2nd Alarm Fire Guts House After Christmas

At 04:55 this morning, Washington Twp Fire Companies, Ems and Rescue Team, and Hackettstown Fire were dispatched for the structure fire on Ruth Lane in the Schooleys Mtn section of town. First arriving officers from Schooleys confirmed heavy smoke showing and a working fire in the attic and rear of the home. Schooleys Engine 3-1 followed by Hackettstown's ladder arrived first. Schooleys 3-1's crew began to make a knock on the fire but continued to be pushed back by high heat while Hackettstown crews vented. Long Valley Engines 1-1 and 1-2 arrived 2nd and 3rd due and supplied 3-1 with water and assisted with a back up line to knock the fire. The fire was then soon extinguished and held to the attic and a hallway bathroom.  Other departments who assisted on scene were Budd Lake Fire, Tri-County Fire, and Fairmount Fire. No injuries occurred except one police officer was treated for smoke inhalation and sent to Hackettstown Medical.
